Safety and Security at Seneca

Seneca College is committed to providing a safe, secure learning and working environment for its students and employees. As stated in the College’s Health and Safety policy, we are “committed to ensure the health and safety of all students, staff, faculty and visitors – in all College facilities, at all College functions and in all College sponsored programs.”

Security officers are present on a 24-hour basis at our King, Markham, Newnham, and Seneca@York campuses. Security officers respond to safety and security threats, first aid, manage access control, and provide general information.

In order to provide a healthy and safe environment, Seneca complies to the regulations/procedures in the Occupational Health and Safety Act, the Ontario Fire Code and all other federal, provincial and municipal acts and regulations that apply. As well, the Smoke Free Ontario Act prohibits smoking in Seneca buildings or vehicles. Smoking is only allowed in designated areas outside College buildings.
