CITE: a LEED® Gold building

Seneca’s new Centre for Innovation, Technology and Entrepreneurship (CITE) at Newnham Campus is being built as a living innovation laboratory, where students can actively interact with green energy technologies and learn more about environmental sustainability. Seneca will reduce its carbon footprint and greenhouse gas emissions through a LEED® Gold certification of the building and by relocating programs currently being offered in energy-inefficient facilities to CITE.

Other highlights

Green cleaning: Seneca uses EcoLogo- or Green Seal-rated cleaning products that are biodegradable, environmentally friendly and mostly scent-free, along with ergonomically designed tools for staff to reduce repetitive strain injuries.

Paper products: The majority of the roll towels and all of the toilet tissue products used at Seneca are made from 100 per cent recycled fiber.
