Appendix G: Examination Procedures

For purposes of this section, examinations refer to formal, written evaluations scheduled during the designated exam period at the end of the term (see official academic year dates as published by the Registrar's Office).

  1. All students must bring their Seneca One Card or valid government photo ID (e.g. drivers license, passport. health card, etc.) to write an examination and produce if requested by the invigilator.
     
  2. All material related to and including exam papers. reference material, scrap paper, etc. must be handed in at the end of the exam.
     
  3. Students arriving late will only be admitted to the exam room within the first 30 minutes of the start time of the exam other than for extenuating circumstances as determined by the invigilator. Students arriving late will not receive any extra time to write the exam.
     
  4. A student who arrives late and is not admitted to the exam room should have the exam invigilator record his/her name and the time s(he) arrived, or go immediately to the School, Faculty or Department office, have the time s(he) arrived for the exam and the reason why s(he) was late recorded. Valid reasons could include but are not limited to the following: death in a family, illness, or other circumstances beyond the student's control.
    Documentation of the extenuating circumstances must be received by the faculty member, coordinator or Chair within 3 business days (Excluding Saturday, Sunday and statutory holidays).
    The documentation will be reviewed and the decision will be communicated to the student within 3 business days.
     
  5. Students cannot leave the exam room for the first 40 minute after the exam has started, other than for extenuating circumstances as determined by the invigilator or unless specified on their Academic Accommodation form from Seneca's Counselling and Disability department. Students are responsible for bringing their Accommodation forms with them to the exam.
     
  6. In order to prevent disruption to those students who are completing their exam, students cannot leave the exam room in the last 15 minutes of the scheduled exam other than for extenuating circumstances as determined by the invigilator or unless specified on an Academic Accommodation form from Seneca's Counselling and Disability department. Students are responsible for bringing their Accommodation forms with them to the exam.
