Marlene Henry (SSWIR '13)

Marlene Henry

During her time at Seneca, Marlene volunteered as a mature student ambassador, participated in Seneca’s mentoring program, was an SSWIR 2012 executive club member and SSWIR 2013 Vice President. Marlene also participated in the Cross Border Jamaica Project and was the recipient of the 2013 SMILE, and Leader by Example awards. Marlene was later selected as one of the student success stories to appear Seneca’s Because It Matters campaign for her incredible experience of achievement through determination, focus and commitment. She graduated her program with honours.

Marlene went on to Algoma University and graduated, again with honours, from the Community Development (ComDev) degree program. She is currently working as the Social Service Worker at Extendicare Van Daele Sault Ste. Marie, and is presently a Seneca and Algoma Alumni Ambassador promoting the current transfer degree program between both institutions.

Elena Dvoirin (CCM '13)

Almost directly after graduating from Seneca with high honours, Elena was recruited by MediaNet, a digital advertising company to work in their client services department. Elena’s time at Seneca prepared her for the role by teaching her effective and professional communications skills. She also learned practical problem solving techniques and by the time she graduated, had plenty of training in prioritizing and organizing multiple tasks with tight deadlines - all very important skills in her job. Besides that, Seneca taught her how to handle stressful and demanding environments. She is now a senior client services manager.

Calvin Tse (IBS '13)

Calvin is a Client Service Representative and a Bank Teller at the Bank of Nova Scotia. When Calvin was studying at Seneca in 2012, he was unsure of his career path. It was difficult switching from one industry to another coming from a background in Environmental Management, and having no prior knowledge of the concepts pertaining to finance. However, thanks to the help of the school's fine professors and after graduating from Seneca's International Business Management program, Calvin has found a new interest and sense of direction towards the world of finance.

Calvin is currently pursuing the Canandian Securities Certificate at the Canadian Securities Institute. After getting certified, he plans to further his career in the financial services industry by applying the knowledge gained to analyze the market and provide investment advice through the Bank of Nova Scotia's investment division, ScotiaMcleod.

Keisha Dixon (ECE '13)

Keisha Dixon

Keisha was hired as a part-time staff by her second semester placement, Rejoyce Childcare, just three weeks into the program. She continued to work there during the summer and when full day kindergarten began in the school the daycare is located in she was given full-time work. She thanks Seneca for everything the College provided her.


Patrick Du (GRA '13)

Patrick Du

Patrick is a Graphic Designer and Print Production Specialist for Print Three, one of Canada's leading business centres for print, web, and marketing services.

After graduating, Patrick went on to find freelance employment with an advertising and graphic design firm called The Aim Media Group in Fall of 2013. He gained experience from designing conceptual website mock-ups, web banners, print flyers and brochures, infographics, and Digital Publishing Suite apps for mobile and tablets.

At PrintThree, he became immersed into the world of print production. Having prior knowledge of pre-press and print production from Seneca's Graphic Design program, the transition into his new found position was with ease. In Patrick's words, "I express nothing but gratitude towards Seneca's Graphic Design faculty. I wholeheartedly loved my overall experience there and wish for the program and faculty to continually prosper in the future."

Chisa Takata (CPD '13)

Chisa Takata

Chisa worked for a medical supply company as a computer programmer in her native country Japan for several years before enrolling in the CPD program at Seneca as an international student. She has worked for CIBC since graduation and was nominated as a Quarterly Individual Achiever in June, 2015.

Her strength was Mainframe and she gained a lot of knowledge and skills of Midrange and databases while studying at Seneca. These skills led her to obtaining her current job.

Chisa has been learning many things from her colleagues, which has motivated her to upgrade both her IT and communication skills. She has also successfully expanded her network through internal and external networking events. She feels very lucky to belong to a wonderful organization, which always gives her positive energy.

Haseeb Ilyas (CPD '13)

Haseeb Ilyas

Prior to coming to Canada and attending Seneca, Haseeb obtained a Bachelors of Computer Engineering degree from Pakistan and more than two years of work experience as an Embedded System Engineer and Software developer. Since graduating from Seneca he has been working at Kubra, an IT Company, as a Programmer Analyst. Haseeb is gradually moving closer to his goals in terms of success.
