SWK951 - Solid Works Introduction


Students should have a minimum Ontario Secondary School Diploma with strong Mathematical (Trigonometry and Geometry) and English skills or be at that functional level with related industrial experience, possess some industrial or mechanical design, drafting experience and experience with the Windows Operating System (Win XP or Win Vista). Instruction is not provided in basic drafting, the Windows Operating System or the principles of mechanical design.
Students are reminded that they are responsible for assessing their eligibility for this program.

This online course provides the student with an introduction on how to use SolidWorks mechanical design automation software to build parametric models of parts and assemblies and how to make drawings of those parts and assemblies. This is a process based training course and emphasizes the process and procedures used to complete a particular task. By utilizing case studies to illustrate these processes, the student learns the necessary commands, options and menus in the context of completing a design task.
