Firefighter Practical Testing Preparation

Workshops


Overview

This series of workshops provides recent graduates of Preservice Firefighter training with the opportunity to prepare for the practical testing required for the Office of the Fire Marshal and Emergency Management Practical Skills Certification Tests. These "hands on" workshops will consist of practical training and review to fulfill the necessary requirements of each Job Performance Requirement listed in NFPA 1001 (2013) Firefighter l and Firefighter II Skill Sheets. Under the direction of a Provincial Evaluator, current students and graduates will practice and train for the Ontario Fire Administration Inc. (OFAI) Technical Skills Assessment.

Successful completion of the Official Skill Sheets for Practical Skills Testing, NFPA 1001, Chapter 5 & Chapter 6, 2013 Edition will prepare the student for Stage 3 of the OFAI Technical skills Assessment Testing.

Please note: Participants must provide their own boots, gloves, flash hood and helmet. A refundable deposit of $150.00 cash will be required to borrow approved firefighter protective clothing.

NFPA1001 Firefighter 1 & 2 Practical Workshops

This workshop covers NFPA 1001 FF1 practical training as the learner prepares to be proficient in firefighter safety, donning and doffing a breathing apparatus, portable extinguishers to prepare you for the OFM practical testing, and the OAFI Stage 3 practical testing

NFPA1001 Firefighter 1 & 2 Practical Workshops

This workshop identifies the needs of a firefighter to be competent in ladder safety and evolutions. Work with your breathing apparatus to be 100% proficient while incorporating ladder raises, leg locks, ladder carries, and safe extrication of a victim down a ladder. This training provides preparation for the OFM or OAFI testing.

NFPA1001 Firefighter 1 & 2 Practical Workshops

This workshop provides a breathing apparatus checkup before conducting all the testing for the OFM Pre-Fire Service program. By the end of the day, you will have had the opportunity to train with fire ground water supplies, hose rolls, appliances, and advancing hose according to NFPA 1001 FFI and NFPA 1001 FFII. Practicing these professional conditions will prepare you for a career as a Firefighter.

NFPA1001 Firefighter 1 & 2 Practical Workshops

This workshop covers Emergency Medical Response. Demonstrating a primary survey and performing a patient assessment will complete the skills required and prepare you to successfully test in the OFM environment. Practicing skills in fire safety surveys, pre-incident surveys and incident management system strategies will prepare you to be ready for OFAI and the OFM skill testing.

NFPA1001 Firefighter 1 & 2 Practical Workshops

This workshop covers mock interviews with full time municipal Platoon chiefs and Senior Staff who know how to prepare you for the most important interview of your life. Students will be advised in advance of the dress code for this workshop
