Overview

Starting an ABA agency is a series of workshops designed to provide the student with the knowledge and practical application of starting up an ABA agency in Ontario. Emphasis will be placed on the requirements of putting together a business plan based on the needs of the agency including human resources, ethics and professionalism and working with an interdisciplinary team.

Students who complete this ROA will have the necessary skills to start their own ABA agency or private practice.

Entry Requirements

  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma
  • Consideration is also given to mature persons over the age of 19, who do not possess a high school diploma. Mature students may be advised to take college preparatory English.
  • It is preferable but not mandatory that students have prior knowledge of ABA and autism.

Curriculum

Program Outcomes

  1. Describe key elements of starting up an ABA agency with specific attention to developing guidelines and goals.
  2. Describe ethical considerations that need to be address in developing an ABA agency
  3. Demonstrate conflict resolution skills.
  4. Prepare a business plan.
  5. Apply marketing strategies by using multi-media techniques to promote an ABA agency
  6. Develop a needs assessment evaluation regarding the ideal location of an agency.
  7. Assess the importance of collaboration with an interdisciplinary team, and families.
