Strike Update: October 16, 2017

College professors, librarians and counsellors across the province are on strike as of Monday, Oct. 16. As a result, there will be no classes for full-time programs until the strike is over.

Continuing Education students will receive communication concerning arrangements for their specific course(s) in advance of their regularly scheduled class(es).

Seneca will remain open during the strike and there will be access to our Computing Commons, libraries and some computer labs. Career Services, Learning Centres, Athletics and Recreation and other student services will remain open but some services may be reduced. Counsellors and learning strategists will not be available as they are academic employees.

We will make every effort to ensure our Part-time Studies online, evening, early-morning, and weekend classes proceed without interruption. If there are any changes students will be contacted directly.

Please be assured that no Ontario college student has ever lost a year because of a strike. You will have the opportunity to complete your studies.

Picket lines have been established at the entrances to some of our campuses. Picket lines cause delays entering and exiting the campus but it is vital that we operate our vehicles in a safe, respectful and lawful way. Academic employees who will be picketing are engaged in a lawful dispute and the right to strike is part of a democratic society. It is important for us to remember that they are part of our Seneca community. More information on picket lines is available on our academic bargaining website which features a Frequently Asked Questions section.

Check for strike updates on the academic bargaining website, My.Seneca and our Facebook and Twitter feeds.
