Overview

AutoCAD is computer-aided design software used in many industries, engineering, architecture, planning, inter design, and drafting.  Architects and drafters use Auto CAD software to design and draw site plans for buildings and other structures. Mechanical engineers and product designers employ Auto CAD when creating designs and models for specific products. The software is used by engineers and manufacturers for product and service design and development in a wide range of industries, including aerospace, automobile, transportation, electrical, telecommunications and utilities.

Students learn to create 2- or 3-dimensional technical drawings, develop template files, coordinate reference drawings and build a library of reusable symbols.

No specific job experience is necessary to learn how to use AutoCAD. Individuals seeking AutoCAD training are typically involved in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, drafting, product design, manufacturing, architecture or construction.

Our Auto CAD courses, effective January 2013, will have credit status and students will be evaluated on the work performed in the course. On completion of a course students will receive a letter grade which will be recorded on their transcript. Students can request an official transcript from our Registration office.

Auto CAD 2017 - Fundamentals

Prerequisite(s):

Recommended Basic Computer skills/Basic Drafting Fundamentals

This course is an introduction to 2D AutoCAD, in which students learn basic AutoCAD fundamentals, including basic draw and modify commands, drawing setup procedures, layer setup, dimensioning, and plotting. Students gain hands-on experience using AutoCAD's drafting tools.

Auto CAD 2017 - Advanced

Prerequisite(s):

ATC111 or an introductory AutoCAD course or industry equivalent experience

This course is the advanced 2D AutoCAD, in which students continue their drafting techniques with such features as annotation scaling, hatching, blocks, attributes, tables and external references. Students draw complex objects and gain hands-on experience using AutoCAD's advanced drafting methods.

Auto CAD 2017 - 3D Modelling - Fundamentals

Prerequisite(s):

ATC111 or an Introductory AutoCAD course or equivalent industrial experience

In this course students develop work flows and learn concepts for creating and editing solid and surface models with AutoCAD. Based on floor plans and detailed CAD drawings, students create basic 3D models, concentrating on objects and small residential

Auto CAD 2017 3D Modelling - Advanced

Prerequisite(s):

ATC362 - Auto Cad 3D Modeling

In this course the students continue their 3D modeling at a more advanced level, including complex lighting, rendering and custom textures. Students will focus on interior scenes and large scale modeling and rendering, as well as, custom object creation.

Auto CAD 2017 3D Civil - Fundamentals

Prerequisite(s):

ATC111 or an introductory AutoCad course or equivalent industrial experience

This course is designed for civil engineers/technologists and surveyors who will use Civil 3D to create standardized civil engineering drafting and GIS projects. Participants complete transportation, site, sewer, storm drain and subdivision projects quickly while using the tools to dynamically link and generate updates which reduce costly errors.

Auto CAD 2017 3D Civil - Advanced

Prerequisite(s):

ATC581 - AutoCAD 3D Civil

This course is designed to enhance the basic knowledge of the Civil 3D design tools acquired from ATC581 - AutoCAD Civil 3D Fundamentals. This is the continuation of the civil design and drafting to improve on the Civil 3D techniques with a focus on refinement and development of usable and relevant civil 3D object styles and drafting methods similar to the industry standards. Create a drawing for a subdivision, basic road design, sewer and profile design, applicable to the typical municipal and industry design standards.

Revit Architecture 2017 - Fundamentals

In this course students prepare building models and are introduced to all phases of the building process from conceptual design studies to the creation of construction documents and schedules

Revit MEP 2017 - Fundamentals

Prerequisite(s):

ATC711

The course introduces students to the software's interface and basic HVAC, Electrical and Piping/Plumbing components that make the Revit MEP software powerful and flexible engineering modeling tool. Students become familiar with the tools necessary to create and document a complete parametric model. The practices are designed to take the student through the basics of a real world project, from linking an architectural model to an MEP template to using Revit MEP tools to design HVAC, electrical, plumbing and piping systems to create complete construction documents.

ATC811
Revit Structure 2017 - Fundamentals

Prerequisite(s):

ATC711 - Revit Architecture - Fundamentals or Industry experience

This course is an introduction to Building Information modeling. The purpose is intended to cover the basic principles of Revit Structure technology and the Building Information modeling. Revit structure 2016 will be demonstrated with extensive hands-on experience in computer lab. Different topics will be covered such as: advantage of BIM, Revit interface, modeling tools, Building structure elements: columns, beams, beam systems, floors, Foundation, reinforcement, Toposurface, annotations, detailing, sheets and printing. The main objective of this course is to familiarize student with the needed tool to create a model and document a project using Revit structure.

Upon successful completion of each course, students receive a letter grade which is recorded on the student's transcript.
