ACV100 - Basic Acting Skills

This course introduces students to specific modern-day acting techniques and will apply these techniques to monologues and scenes. It will focus on bringing script analysis choices to life as well as developing group dynamics. Students will also be oriented towards contemporary industry conditions and professional practice.

ACV110 - The Vocal Instrument

This course will enable students proficiency in understanding the care and workings of the voice and its crucial role in the acting profession towards character exposition. Students will be exposed to the process of a vocal "warm-up" progression, from getting rooted in the breath to allowing natural vocal expression as it applies to performing of scripts.

ACV120 - The Actor's Body

This course enables students to understand and apply an increased awareness of the body as instrument as a critical piece in a successful performance. Students are introduced to a physical discipline in which the entire body must be alive and engaged for the face to be expressive on camera, and how such physical expression augments working with text.

ACV130 - Acting Inside the Frame

This course introduces students to the restrictions and freedoms with acting on-camera. Students will learn what is required to bring a compelling performance to the screen through various technique exercises. In this course students are also exposed to the aspects and roles in a complete production so as to identify the complex relationships that exists between them, and how their role as talent fits into that picture.

EAC150 - College English

College English is an introductory college writing and reading course fundamental to successful college studies. Through a variety of assignments and classroom activities, students will strive to develop the rhetorical and analytical skills essential to their success as communicators in college and upon graduation. Fiction and non-fiction will be a central vehicle for teaching writing.

PRE-REQUISITES: EAC149, EAP500, ESL934, ELI Level 8 or placement based on a Seneca College English Skills Assessment
