Subject Title
SCM: Career Planning

Subject Description
This subject is designed to facilitate the student's ability to achieve a successful job search in the supply chain management industry. The focus of this program is to enhance knowledge of the extensive resources available to launch a successful job search and to gain business contacts through networking opportunities with supply chain experts who integrate supply and demand management within and across companies. In addition, students will develop supporting tools to assist in the search. This includes development of targeted resumes and cover letters, identification of all relevant job search resources, learning effective interview skills and understanding the use of social media as part of the job search process.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this subject the student will be able to:

1. Analyze personal, education and work experience and establish employability skills in terms of supply chain terminology and their relationship to relevant industry and occupational requirements.
 
2. Create a Resume/Cover Letter Portfolio that includes documents focused on key words and accomplishments in industry sectors that include Procurement, Inventory Planning, Operations, Transportation, Distribution, Logistics Management, SAP and its integration with marketing, sales and finance.

3. Develop a comprehensive job search strategy by identifying targeted resources in the supply chain industry. Resources should included job websites, publications, recruitment agencies, associations, social media and networking.
 
4. Network and develop valuable industry contacts by attending and participating in networking events including Speaker's Series and Career Days featuring industry experts; source industry information and contacts by scheduling Information Interviews with targeted companies to learn about supply chain labour market information and industry hiring practices. Companies include Nestle, Atlantic Packaging, Dell and Agropur.
 
5. Understand the benefits of joining and participating in Professional Associations such as APICS,  PMI, OPBA and SCMAO.

5. Demonstrate knowledge on how to succeed in an interview by using current interview strategies and techniques that focus and highlight benefits to the supply chain industry employer.
 
6. Build and maintain an effective online profile and social media presence in LinkedIn, Twitter, Blogs and Visual CV.

Camera Use and Recordings - Synchronous (Live) Classes
Synchronous (live) classes may be delivered in person, in a Flexible Learning space, or online through a Seneca web conferencing platform such as MS Teams or Zoom. Flexible Learning spaces are equipped with cameras, microphones, monitors and speakers that capture and stream instructor and student interactions, providing an in-person experience for students choosing to study online.

Students joining a live class online may be required to have a working camera in order to participate, or for certain activities (e.g. group work, assessments), and high-speed broadband access (e.g. Cable, DSL) is highly recommended. In the event students encounter circumstances that impact their ability to join the platform with their camera on, they should reach out to the professor to discuss. Live classes may be recorded and made available to students to support access to course content and promote student learning and success.
