CIP011 - Principles and Practices of Insurance

This course introduces the concept of risk and shows how insurance deals with risk. Students examine the basic concepts and language of insurance, the legal context of insurance and, the participants in the industry and their relationship to each other. The principles covered in this course underlie every situation encountered in insurance and every policy and course studied subsequently.

MGS350 - Management Studies: Canadian Business Law

The course will introduce the student to Canada's laws and legal system, including key statutes regulating business in Ontario.  The focus is on understanding potential liability and ways to manage legal risk in relation to tort and contract law, methods of carrying on business, and protection of intellectual property.

RFC126 - Canadian Investment Funds

This course provides students with the information and knowledge in understanding and evaluating mutual funds. Students learn how to evaluate client's financial objectives and suitability and to recommend various types of mutual funds based on the economic and taxation environment.

RFC223 - Ethics and Marketing of Financial Products

This subject identifies the concepts, ideas and strategies for the marketing and selling of financial products, services and expertise by the financial planner to the public. The Financial Planning Standards Council Code of Ethics is studied. Topics will include prospecting, developing a market plan, client communications and practice concerns.

RFC127 - Call Centre Operations

Students are introduced to a working contact centre environment. They will understand how the call centre relates to the industry and its function within a corporate structure. Students will understand call centre technology and will apply classroom theory, demonstrating communication, sales and customer service skills in practice situations.
