COB221 - Marketing and Private Label

The role of marketing in general, and the 4 P's of marketing specifically, will give the student a better understanding of the significance of marketing in the cosmetics industry. After researching a private label cosmetic company, students will develop a line of cosmetics that could be sold in a small boutique.

COS413 - Styling Techniques

Styling techniques are increasingly used by the makeup artist onset or in conjunction with a variety of events and special occasions.  The fundamentals of hair styling including blow drying, roller setting, use of heat styling tools and updo's will be studied. Students will be taught the features and benefits of the products used in this subject, in order to provide advice and recommendations to clients and customers. In addition, there will be in-class portfolio photoshoots for portfolio development.

COS422 - Creative Makeup FX

This subject is designed to encourage students to express creativity in the application of high fashion makeup, and character designs for runway and editioral makeup.  Creative and Special Fx techniques are an exciting component in developing students' artistic makeup ability.

COS440 - Portfolio Development

Students will prepare a professional career portfolio for the cosmetic industry suitable for presentation to prospective employers. Participation in a professional photographic shoot will allow the students to include photographs showcasing their creativity and makeup ability. Through role-playing, students will develop the skills, ability and confidence required in a professional career interview.
