EAC150 - College English

College English is an introductory college writing and reading course fundamental to successful college studies. Through a variety of assignments and classroom activities, students will strive to develop the rhetorical and analytical skills essential to their success as communicators in college and upon graduation. Fiction and non-fiction will be a central vehicle for teaching writing.

PRE-REQUISITES: EAC149, EAP500, ESL934, ELI Level 8 or placement based on a Seneca College English Skills Assessment

FST101 - Design Concepts and Studio I

In this subject, students will learn to generate ideas using examples from the fashion and design world to illustrate concepts, elements and principles of design. This subject will assist students in the development and the understanding of their creative process. Along with design-based explorations, students will also learn processes, attitudes and approaches to the development of critical thinking, and also problem solving skills that are vital to creative success in the fashion discipline.

FST110 - Colour and Fashion Trends

The objective of this subject is to develop creative approaches to design issues by developing a student's individual skill and imagination. Through a series of excercises and projects, each student will explore colour theory, fashion forecasting, and the psychology of colour to create successful design compositions. The design abilities and skills acquired in this subject provide both a theoretical knowledge of the colour wheel, and an applied method for the use of colour within a design context.

FST120 - Fashion Illustration

This subject provides development of drawing skills with an emphasis on visual communication and design skills. Through creative exploration of various drawing media, students will gain an understanding and appreciation of rendering for fashion and design. Projects will focus on developing illustration and presentation skills. Through observation, critique and application, students will experiment with line, shape, colour, tone and texture to create drawings that effectively communicate concepts for fashion and visual merchandising.

ICA001 - Introduction to Computers and Applications

In this subject students are introduced to the use of computer systems, a microcomputer operating system (MS Windows), and the following business applications: MS Word for word processing, MS PowerPoint for business presentations, and MS Excel  for spreadsheets. The student will use Windows to effectively operate a personal computer, access various Seneca computer systems, prepare word documents, create business presentations, and develop spreadsheets.

RBC155 - Business Communications I

Business communication skills are necessary in today's workplace and this subject teaches students how to communicate in a clear, concise, and effective way with emphasis on the audience, purpose and message. Students will learn principles of business communications and have the opportunity to practice preparing powerful business messages using many different communication channels. They will also complete a professional business report and electronic presentation.
