EAC150 - College English

College English is an introductory college writing and reading course fundamental to successful college studies. Through a variety of assignments and classroom activities, students will strive to develop the rhetorical and analytical skills essential to their success as communicators in college and upon graduation. Fiction and non-fiction will be a central vehicle for teaching writing.

PRE-REQUISITES: EAC149, EAP500, ESL934, ELI Level 8 or placement based on a Seneca College English Skills Assessment

ICA001 - Introduction to Computers and Applications

In this subject students are introduced to the use of computer systems, a microcomputer operating system (MS Windows), and the following business applications: MS Word for word processing, MS PowerPoint for business presentations, and MS Excel  for spreadsheets. The student will use Windows to effectively operate a personal computer, access various Seneca computer systems, prepare word documents, create business presentations, and develop spreadsheets.

RPA106 - Introduction to Computer Software Applications

This subject provides an introduction to both the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation Automated Cost System (ACS) and to Microsoft Excel 2013, with a view to preparing students to easily follow the ACS and Excel logic of functions and apply those functions to specific problems which they will encounter later in the program.

RPA112 - The Appraisal of Real Estate

This subject provides a first exposure to the principles and techniques of real property valuation. It will introduce the concepts of both "market" and "highest and best use" analysis in the appraisal process. The student will study the theory, techniques and detailed applications of the direct comparison, cost, and income approaches to property valuation

RPA115 - Mortgage Underwriting

The student will be introduced to standard mathematical features of mortgage financing. The material builds incrementally, concept by concept and application by application, from simple interest loans to complex real estate financial analysis. The subject then extends to cover a broad range of mathematical applications including the use of statistics.

RPA120 - Principles of Microeconomics

This subject introduces the basic principles of microeconomics and applies these concepts to current real estate issues. Topics covered include opportunity costs, supply and demand, elasticity, market equilibrium, efficiency and equity, the role of the government, consumer choice, externalities, imperfect competition, and monopolies.
