EAC150 - College English

College English is an introductory college writing and reading course fundamental to successful college studies. Through a variety of assignments and classroom activities, students will strive to develop the rhetorical and analytical skills essential to their success as communicators in college and upon graduation. Fiction and non-fiction will be a central vehicle for teaching writing.

PRE-REQUISITES: EAC149, EAP500, ESL934, ELI Level 8 or placement based on a Seneca College English Skills Assessment

ICA001 - Introduction to Computers and Applications

In this subject students are introduced to the use of computer systems, a microcomputer operating system (MS Windows), and the following business applications: MS Word for word processing, MS PowerPoint for business presentations, and MS Excel  for spreadsheets. The student will use Windows to effectively operate a personal computer, access various Seneca computer systems, prepare word documents, create business presentations, and develop spreadsheets.

RTV100 - Visual Skills I

This subject is designed to introduce and prepare students in contemporary approaches to broadcast level field production and editing through the use of single camera video (including field audio recording and basic lighting) and related non-linear editing techniques.

RTV101 - Introduction to Broadcasting

This subject provides students with the skills to apply and interpret the regulatory and historical components of radio and television communications. Programming, promotional policies and practices, news and advertising, media associations and corporate ownership are among a variety of topics covered in this course. Students will learn to appreciate Canadian radio and television broadcasting as a business which survives amidst what some would deem, "most heavily regulated broadcasting environment in the world".

RTV116 - Audio Fundamentals

With the ever increasing quality of audio components available in today's audio/video systems and the listener demands, production sound must keep pace. This course is designed to give the student an introduction to the art of high quality audio production. During this course the student will be introduced to and participate in production of audio for television using state of the art technology and techniques.

RTV141 - Introduction to Media Writing

RTV170 - Introduction to New Media

As the worlds of online and broadcast communications continue to merge, it is critical that graduates be well versed in the basics of the interactivity and synergies of these various mediums. This subject, through lectures, demonstrations, and assignment work, will introduce the students to some of the most commonly used applications in the broadcast and production industries today.

SCA361 - Introduction Studio Production

This subject is an introduction to basic television production operations. Students will learn the basic uses of studio television production equipment as well as develop expertise in television studio and control room practices.
