FIS400 - Cabin Crew Safety Specialist

Passenger and crew safety is the major component of the Flight Attendant's job. This course will emphasize aircraft and emergency procedures culminating in hands-on aircraft evacuation simulations. In addition, the student will have a final opportunity to hone their interview skills while analyzing their preparedness for employment.

FRN509 - French - Level V

The purpose of FRN 509 is to solidify students' communicative skills to enable them to communicate orally and in writing in a wide variety of everyday situations relating directly or indirectly to tourism, hospitality and travel. FRN509 represents an integrated and balanced approach to language acquisition through communicative interactions which allow students to enhance their listening, reading, spoken interaction, spoken production and writing skills according to the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) guidelines. The course also uses the ACTFL (American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages) guidelines to test students' cultural awareness of French-speaking communities. This is the last of four courses and as a result, more complex structures are introduced while previously learned content is reinforced.  Students must make every effort to converse in French.

HPL225 - Dining Room and Banquet Management

The hospitality sector has a high demand for trained, educated and operationally experienced food service managers, assistants, and supervisors. Furthermore, graduates working in any role in the tourism industry will benefit from knowledge of Food and Beverage Service and the related protocols often expected in formal business situations. Students, through study in this subject, other components of their course, and hands-on experience, will develop the skills, knowledge and behaviours associated with these needs.

TIS200 - Professional Internship

To obtain the best possible job opportunity, graduating students need to be well-versed in tourism career options. Long-term career success is a result of good career goal planning. In addition, job satisfaction is achieved through informed decision-making. Students will be encouraged to recognize and discuss both their personal and working values and attitudes.

Professional internship is a flexible educational program that combines an employment experience with academic study. Students are responsible for obtaining their own placement which in turn provides a work experience that enhances academic progress and increases employability.
