Subject Title
Pharmaceutical Calculations

Subject Description
This subject covers the use and application of mathematical calculations used most specifically in chemical laboratories in the pharmaceutical industry. The equations that are outlined in the USP and other regulatory publications will be examined using case studies and provided data

Credit Status
One credit toward CLP and CLPC, Semester 5; professional subjectPrerequisites: BIC433 and PHA333

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this subject the student will be able to:

1. Apply selected calculations as outlined in international regulatory publications for pharmaceutical analyses
2. Perform quantitation techniques applied to the testing of pharmaceuticals (HPLC, dissolution, GC
3. Determine the passing criteria for validation and method transfer protocols
4. Determine trending of stability and production data
5. Perform scale-up calculations for pilot plant to production scale manufacturing
