Subject Description
This advanced subject provides the student with a practical experience in the application of advanced television program creation and operations as well as live news program production.As a continuation of SCA 363, students will be given the opportunity of further developing their creative and operational studio production skills in the lower television studio.Students will also hone their live news production skills by independently producing newscasts for the closed-circuit television station within the college in conjunction with the Broadcast Journalism Program.

Pre-requisite: SCA363 - Television Production III.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this subject the student will be able to:

1. Independently create a professional quality studio television program.

2. Create an effective production and post production schedule meeting all deadlines.

3. Employ a high level of skills in the use of TV studio production and test equipment.

4. Demonstrate the ability to produce, at a professional level, live television newscasts.

5. Demonstrate a range of transferable skills including interpersonal communication, team work, independent
thinking and problem solving under severe time constraints.

6. Exhibit appropriate professional attitude and behaviour in relation to broadcast quality standards.

Camera Use and Recordings - Synchronous (Live) Classes
Synchronous (live) classes may be delivered in person, in a Flexible Learning space, or online through a Seneca web conferencing platform such as MS Teams or Zoom. Flexible Learning spaces are equipped with cameras, microphones, monitors and speakers that capture and stream instructor and student interactions, providing an in-person experience for students choosing to study online.

Students joining a live class online may be required to have a working camera in order to participate, or for certain activities (e.g. group work, assessments), and high-speed broadband access (e.g. Cable, DSL) is highly recommended. In the event students encounter circumstances that impact their ability to join the platform with their camera on, they should reach out to the professor to discuss. Live classes may be recorded and made available to students to support access to course content and promote student learning and success.
