Gail Vaz-Oxlade doles out savings advice at Seneca

One of Canada’s most respected experts on debt and debt management dropped by Newnham Campus Wednesday afternoon to give Seneca students and employees some free financial advice.

Gail Vaz-Oxlade, bestselling financial author and host of the television shows Princess and Til Debt Do Us Part, spoke at the College as part of the “Money Rules - Rule Your Money or Your Money Will Rule You” event, presented by the School of Accounting & Financial Services and the Student Leaders in Accounting & Financial Services.

More than 250 students and employees filled The Great Hall to hear Gail’s tips on how to get your finances in check and how to build a strong financial foundation. One of the afternoon’s biggest highlights came when Gail revealed to the audience that she is a proud Seneca alumna.

As part of the event, $1,200 was raised for the Campaign for Students through a raffle and sales of Gail’s book, Money Rules, which was facilitated by the Bookstore.

Gail remained for more than an hour after her talk to sign copies of her book and to take pictures with employees and students.

One of the individuals who was instrumental in arranging this event was Barbara Foster, an Accounting and Payroll student in her final semester of studies. In fact, Barbara was the first person to contact Gail to ask her if she would speak at the College. Photo gallery
