International organization certifies Learning Centre

Seneca’s Learning Centre has been certified by the College Reading & Learning Association (CRLA).

This certification enables the Learning Centre to certify its peer tutors based on the training and experience level set by the CRLA, which requires a minimum of 10 hours of training, as well as 25 hours of tutoring students before they can receive their International Tutor Training Program certification.

Seneca’s Learning Centre decided to become CRLA certified to ensure the College’s tutoring programs not only met but exceeded the academic standards set by postsecondary institutions around the world.

The CRLA is an association of student-oriented professionals in the fields of reading, learning assistance, developmental education, tutoring, and mentoring at the college/adult level. The association has sponsored its rigorous tutor training certification program since 1989.
