Journalism program leads grad to World Cup

Andi Petrillo

Andi Petrillo has kicked off a new chapter in her broadcasting career.

The Seneca Journalism graduate is serving as anchor of CBC’s pre- and post-game coverage of the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Andi has been a member of CBC’s sports broadcast team for the past three years, helping pave the way for the next generation of female sportscasters. The Toronto native, who is best known to hockey fans as the host of the Chevrolet I-Desk on Hockey Night in Canada (HNIC), became the first woman to be a full-time member of HNIC’s studio team.

Andi got her start in sports broadcasting soon after graduating from Seneca.

She worked as a full-time sports producer and host for Rogers TV York Region for two years before being hired as an in-game reporter and host for Leafs TV. She became an immediate fan favourite with hockey fans for her knowledge of the game and her on-air personality, so it’s a safe bet soccer enthusiasts will feel the same way too.
