After months of hard work, Marketing students placed third in this year’s Ontario Colleges’ Marketing Competition (OCMC).

The competition, hosted this year by Conestoga College, included 13 Ontario colleges and hundreds of highly motivated marketing students to showcase their business talents and demonstrate their strategic thinking and team-working abilities. During the two-day event, faculty-coached teams competed in a series of exercises based on real-world business challenges. The event started with a spirited Quiz Bowl that tested student knowledge of marketing terms and industry news.

In addition to ranking third overall, Seneca’s team of 20 students, led by professors Scott Campbell and Theresa Seto, was recognized throughout the competition in various areas. The team took home three second-place titles: Direct Marketing (Tyrone Murray & Yulia Reznikova), Marketing Research (Victor Fonseca & Nicole Martin), and Prospect Pitch (Liam Moore & Jake Moreau). Patrick Godin and Charles Newton took third place in the Integrated Marketing Communication event. Seneca also placed fourth in Retail (Lindsay Stockhamer & James Apolinario) and fifth in Marketing Strategy (Payam Ahmad & Melissa Ronson). Seneca students Eric Huang and Kate Grinkina were also members of the second and third place teams in Quiz Bowl, respectively.

OCMC is a student-focused learning experience that provides participants the ability to demonstrate their vocational and employability skills before industry professionals. The Alumni Student Experience Fund was a sponsor of the event. In addition, several of the coaches are alumni members who have participated and continue to participate in OCMC each year.
