Seneca launches sustainability initiative

Toronto,

Seneca has launched a sustainability initiative to support and advance environmental activities across our campuses.

The initiative, called Sustainable Seneca (website), is aimed at encouraging responsible stewardship while showcasing Seneca’s efforts in areas such as conservation and restoration, energy and climate change, green building, transportation, waste and food management, and water.

“Seneca is dedicated to taking a proactive role in environmental sustainability, both on our campuses and in our broader communities,” says Ana White, Vice-President External and co-Chair of the newly established Environmental Sustainability Committee.

The Environmental Sustainability Committee is a Seneca-wide advocacy group created to help promote and embed sustainability in the Seneca culture, in the way we conduct our business, and the values we pass onto our students.

The committee is also gathering ideas, views and insights about how Seneca can promote and champion sustainability initiatives at our campuses. An online submission form is available to share ideas with the committee. Everyone at Seneca is encouraged to use this form to become active contributors to Sustainable Seneca.

“We look forward to hearing from our students, faculty, staff and community members on how we can make Seneca a cleaner, greener and more sustainable environment,” says Bill Humber, Director of the Eco-Seneca Office and co-Chair of the committee. “In the coming year, we hope to celebrate more success stories in all areas across Seneca to increase awareness of best practices in environmental sustainability.”
