Michael Alan Kirton has been selected as valedictorian for Seneca College’s convocation taking place on Friday, June 24 at 2 p.m. at the Newnham Campus (1750 Finch Avenue East, Toronto).

After attending Carleton University for computer science, Michael worked odd jobs to pay off his student loans. He hadn’t enjoyed the emphasis on theory in his university education and he wanted to go back to college to get the hands-on experience he felt he was lacking.

Once he read the description of Seneca’s Computer Systems Technology advanced diploma he was impressed with the opportunity to complete two co-ops as part of the program. The 26-year-old is now hoping to land a full-time job with one of the companies where he completed his co-ops.
