Anna Ainsworth English and Liberal Studies Courses
Anna holds an MA and a PhD in political science from York University. Her doctoral research investigated community building among the Rwandan diaspora in the Greater Toronto Area. Anna’s academic interests include migration, displacement, political violence, genocide, discourses of community and nation-building, intersections of gender, race and class, democracy and multiculturalism. She primarily teaches electives in the field of Canadian studies and political philosophy. In her courses, students investigate and evaluate contemporary social and political dilemmas and find new ways of interpreting our shared world. Students are pushed to consider how democracy functions and what it takes to be an active citizen, invested and involved in shaping our world.
