Laura Adams General Arts
Laura is the co-ordinator of the General Arts program at Newnham camps. She completed her MA, and is near completion of her PhD in psychology at York University, studying orangutan social behaviour, cognition, and perception. Laura conducted field research in Indonesian Borneo assessing the social transmission of knowledge of food sources in orangutans, and does research at Toronto Zoo using touchscreens to evaluate orangutan picture preferences and perception. Beyond this area of interest, she has also studied cognitive impairment and memory loss in older adults. In her teaching, Laura encourages students to design their own research and think critically about the sources of information.
