Ryerson University – located in the heart of downtown Toronto – is Canada’s leader in innovative, career-relevant learning. Distinctly urban, Ryerson boasts Canada’s most diverse campus and a vibrant student life.
Adding to the university’s diversity are Seneca College graduates who have chosen Ryerson to complete their degree. Ryerson recognizes the achievements of Seneca College graduates by offering a variety of fast-track options towards degree completion.
Upon completing an Advanced Diploma in International Business, Okiemute Akposheri transferred to the Ted Rogers School of Management (TRSM) to earn a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Global Management. For Akposheri, choosing Ryerson was easy.
“The Global Management Major at Ryerson fit perfectly with what I wanted and I got the opportunity to transfer a number of credits from college. Ryerson really did a great job of acknowledging my previous educational background and building on that.”
Location also played a large role in helping Akposheri decide. “I remember thinking to myself, 'Whoa, a business school right in Toronto’s financial district, the main business hub of Canada… genius!'”
Akposheri’s awe of Ryerson’s urban campus is shared among thousands of students who benefit daily from Ryerson’s surroundings. With nearly every industry imaginable just steps from our classrooms, Ryerson likes to think of the city of Toronto as an extension of campus - or, an urban laboratory.
The opportunity to engage with professors, students and industry professionals is another reason that Seneca students choose Ryerson each year to complete their degree. And once they’re here, the supports are endless.
For Seneca alumna and fourth year TRSM transfer student Alysia Harji, “Experiential learning, smaller class sizes, great location, resources and the program I wanted made the transition from college to university smooth and easier!”
Akposheri adds that “there are ... tutoring and mentoring services specially geared towards direct entry students. The class sizes are not overwhelming, you get to participate, professors are always ready to help after classes and during office hours and you get very good feedback that helps you grow.”
