Documentary Filmmaking Institute (DFI)

Seneca’s Documentary Filmmaking Institute (DFI) gives you the skills and knowledge to produce professional documentary and non-fiction media. You’ll learn from award-winning filmmakers and industry experts how to shoot, edit, direct, and produce meaningful, compelling content.

The DFI began in 2009 with its summer institute format: 15 weeks of focused training from May to August. DFI Summer continues to attract emerging filmmakers from across Canada and around the world. On the back of its success the DFI has expanded to include an 8-month graduate certificate, Documentary and Non-Fiction Media Production.

A proud sponsor of Toronto’s Hot Docs Documentary Film Festival, DFI is excited to continue its growth and support the successes of its graduates.
