Program Description

The Honours Bachelor of Commerce – Marketing degree program has been designed to meet the knowledge and skill level requirements to develop strong grounding in general management fundamentals, proven ability to develop relevant marketing strategies, and a deep expertise in business analytics and the marketing insights they generate.

Admission Requirements

Program Eligibility:

Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent including six Grade 12 (U) or (M) courses with a minimum overall average of 65%, or a mature applicant (21 years or older and has been out of high school for a minimum of two years). Mature applicants should disclose all previous postsecondary transcripts which may be used for admission decisions.

Required courses - minimum final grade of 65% in each:

  • English: Grade 12 ENG 4 (U)
  • Mathematics: any Grade 12 (U)

Applicants must meet Seneca English Proficiency requirements for degree programs.

Graduates will have the tools to challenge paradigms and push creative boundaries to deliver value immediately upon graduation. They will lead product, service and communication innovation while successfully collaborating with multi-function internal and external teams. The ability to adapt to emerging trends and technologies while grounding their work in marketing research and the strategic use of descriptive, predictive and prescriptive analytics is another key characteristics of the graduate of this degree program.

Graduates will be uniquely qualified to develop marketing strategies across traditional and emerging digital media and distribution channels, aspiring towards 360-degree customer engagement with campaigns grounded in marketing analytics. They will demonstrate a deep understanding of how marketing strategy fits into both the micro- and macro- business context.

Graduates will exit not only with the technical skills required for employment but, also with the following employer-sought attributes: creative problem-solving, curiosity, adaptability, resiliency, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage projects and deliver results.

The Honours Bachelor of Commerce – Marketing degree program prepares students for diverse careers in marketing strategy and marketing analytics, such as Marketing Analyst, Product Manager, Marketing Manager, Marketing Assistant, Digital Media Specialist, Social Media Manager, and Advertising and Promotions Manager.

Work-Integrated Learning

Mandatory Degree Work Term

A work experience that includes at least one term in a formal work environment. The work term(s) may be a paid or unpaid position that is completed between two academic semesters and requires a minimum of 420 hours of work. Students must be in good standing and meet all identified requirements prior to participating in the work experience. The successful completion of the work term(s) is required for graduation.  Eligibility for participation does not guarantee that a work position will be secured. Additional fees are required for the mandatory degree work term regardless of success in securing a work position.

Transfer Credit/Pathways

The Degree and Credit Transfer Office provides a number of services for students continuing their education at Seneca, and for graduating students considering degree transfer options.

Through transfer agreements and institution partnerships, graduates of this Seneca College program may be eligible for credit at various post-secondary institutions. Please refer to the Degree Transfer Guide for more information.

Transfer Credit may be granted for courses deemed equivalent to courses at Seneca that have been completed at recognized postsecondary institutions. Additional information is available online.
