In addition to core academic courses, you’ll take subjects on personal management, learning skills and the workplace. Most importantly, you’ll benefit from intensive supports, personal career exploration and an 84-hour field placement component. Our graduates find employment in areas such as the social services, apprenticeships and business.
Program Eligibility:
The Importance of Learning Skills:
Student success in college requires well developed learning skills (such as being able to work independently, participate in a team, be well-organized, develop good work habits, and show initiative). These skills are as important as prior academic achievement. While it is expected that applicants would have developed these skills through previous education and life experiences, Seneca offers support to assist students with further development of these important skills.
Gain valuable career skills in this two-semester Ontario College Certificate program. As a graduate of College Opportunities, you’ll have the academic background, learning skills and career guidance to explore your employment opportunities in an area of interest to you. These may include: merchandising, shipping and receiving, baking, food services, office, services to children, recreation, library, services to the aged, etc.
Meet all necessary academic requirements and you’ll benefit from an 84-hour unpaid field placement for practical experience either at the end of the second semester or earlier as mutually agreed.
