If you are a recent graduate and find that you need to know how social media can be used in an organizational context, this program is for you. If you have been working in industry for a number of years and want to further your career with current knowledge and hands-on social media experience, this program is for you. If you run a business or non-profit and would like to learn how to apply social media in your operations, this program is for you.
Our faculty of social media experts offers a diverse background of professional experience and skill sets.
The Social Media program was developed in close consultation with industry leaders to ensure that you learn what is relevant, applicable across multiple disciplines and in demand. The program is offered in a flexible format to meet your busy schedule.
You will benefit from one hundred hours of field placement in a professional setting. This component is critical to your career success and a requirement for graduation.
- A recognized degree or three-year post-secondary diploma from an accredited institution; OR
- Mature Student Status (age 19 or older) with 3 to 5 years of documented work experience in a related field may be considered. Relevant résumé and references must be provided.
- English proficiency at the post-secondary level.
- Although not required for admission, the following are recommended for your success in the program:
- Competence in word–processing, Windows systems environment and basic Internet applications.
The digital landscape is continually changing the business and communications practices of organizations. Seneca's Social Media program is an eight-month intensive social media launchpad into this space. This social media graduate certificate program is specifically created to make you the one with the current knowledge and applicable, hands-on social media experience. You will be prepared to strategically assess and execute opportunities in marketing, public relations, communications, employee recruitment and engagement.
Upon graduation you may find yourself working as a brand ambassador, community manager, content strategist, customer relations specialist, digital content manager, digital media manager, digital marketing manager, director of marketing, director of customer engagement, interactive marketing manager, marketing co-ordinator, social analytics manager, social media analyst, social media co-ordinator, social media community manager, social media content curator, social media specialist or social media strategist within organizations in the for profit, not-for-profit, government and academic sectors.
