Frequently asked Questions in ICA (FAQs)


1) How do I find my lab monitor's contact info?

* Log into MySeneca and click on your ICA course site

* Click on the button for Lab Monitor

* You should see your lab monitor's name, email, office location and schedule

2) Where is the ICA TA office for my campus?

* King - GH1165 (inside the ICA lab)

* Newnham -B4085

* York - T2112

* Markham - M526

3) How can I get some one-on-one help with the module materials, or get some feedback on where I lost marks on the in-class assessment?

* Come see your lab monitor during their office hours (see number 1 above for locating this info)

* Best to book an appointment so they know you are coming

4) How do I check my ICA grades?

* For Summer and Winter 2010: Add the ICA Grade Lookup module to your MySeneca portal (use Modify Content) and click "Continue" to view your full ICA grade records.

* For this semester: Your in-class grade is posted in your ICA course site on MySeneca in the Gradebook (should be posted within one week of the date you submitted) and your SimNet grade is available through the Gradebook tab within your SimNet account (Note: the highest score of your 2 SimNet attempts is the grade we will use for the module)

5) How do I know if I passed a module that I completed this semester?

* We have created a simple Grade Calculator (only for grades earned this semester) where you can type in your 2 grades for a module to see if you've passed the module

* To use the calculator, open the MS Excel file to enter your grades and work out your combined grade for the module

* Note: For pretests, a grade of 85% or higher is a pass

6) I missed doing the SimNet test during the week it was scheduled or I missed the in-class assessment for my group, what should I do?

*If you miss your SimNet test or in-class assessment, you must report it to your lab monitor within 24 hrs to discuss your options

7) I couldn't get the SimNet test to work during the week it was available for my group, what should I do?

* Same answer as previous FAQ, plus make sure the problem is fixed before another module is missed (come to the TA office to let us know)

8) The SimNet test was not listed in my Exams tab during the week it should have been available, what should I do?

* Same answer as previous FAQ, plus make sure the problem is fixed before another module is missed (come to the TA office to let us know)

9) The SimNet test is freezing or won't load properly, what should I do?

* If your at-home test week is still in progress, simply reboot your computer without closing the test window and login back into your test - you should be able to continue with the same attempt

* If you continue to have a problem, please come in to see your lab monitor before the test week is over to get help with successfully completing the test

* If your at-home test week is over, watch for emails re opportunities to book a makeup during the study week (must be booked in advance)

10) I'm repeating a module from last semester, do I have to redo both the in-class and the at-home portion of the module?

* Yes

11) My pretest score, for a module is below 85%. Do I still need to do the regular Simnet test for that module?

* Yes

12) What is the final grade for ICA?

The final grade for ICA would be either "SAT or UNSAT"

13) Do we need ICA to graduate?

ICA is part of your course curriculum and is required for graduation.

14) Is there any final exam for ICA?

ICA does not have a final test at the end of the semester

The ICA course consists of four modules. Each module has two tests. One In-Class assessment and one At-Home test with specific test dates.

15) How/where do I activate my PIN?

You will need to go to the SimNet site and enter your Seneca 9 digit student number for both your Username and Password. Click on the My SimNet tab to register your PIN.
