ICA Tests

ICA PRE-TESTS

Pre-Tests are offered at the beginning of each semester and are only available to  students without any ICA graded activity.

Note: Any students with Academic Accommodations are required to bring the documentation letter with them.

Students demonstrating high proficiency in a module on the pre‐test (85% or greater), will be exempted from that module. Students demonstrating high proficiency in all four modules on the pre‐ test (all 85% or greater), will be exempted from the ICA course.


For Summer 2012 semester the pre-test will only be available on selected, limited dates/times between May 7th through to May 18th 2012. Some timeslots will be available in the early evening (from 5-7 p.m.) See information below on how to book a timeslot. Note: space for each timeslot is limited, so book early. Walk-ins are not permitted.

Booking the Pre-Test (The booking system will be available starting on May 1st, 2012)
Click on the "Book a Pre-test" link below then log into the test booking system using your Seneca user name and password. You must book your ICA pre-test at least one day in advance of the test date. Note: only the campus you are attending will be available to you. Please print the confirmation of your booking.

Missed the ICA Pre-Test?


 If you missed the pre-test you may still be eligible for transfer credit through the Advanced Standing process. Please see your program coordinator to complete the applicable forms and review the documentation required to submit. The deadline to apply for Advanced Standing this semester is
May 17th, 2012. Note: credit will not be granted for previous experience with older versions of MS Office (i.e. any version prior to MS Office 2010).
All tests are delivered on line in a simulated environment and are computer based.
 
You must book your Pre-Test at least one day in advance.

REQUIRED:

  • Your timetable (you must be registered in ICA to do the pretests
  • Good working knowledge on Microsoft 2010 applications
  • Your Seneca OneCard photo ID
  • Arrive on time


ICA REGULAR   TESTS

 There are two main types of tests used in the ICA course for each module:
  • SimNet "At-Home" tests (worth 35% of your module grade) and
  • "In-Class" assessments (worth 65% of your module grade)
To pass a module, you must achieve a minimum grade of 70% on the in-class hands-on assessment and achieving a combined grade of 70% on the module (In-class hands-on assessment and SimNet test)
NEITHER of these TESTS requires advanced booking. Please refer to your schedule that is posted under 
Important Due Dates for the specific dates and times for these tests.

 It is very IMPORTANT that you follow the due dates listed on your schedule.

In-class assessments are written in your regularly scheduled ICA class during the week shown in the weekly schedule for your group.
