Terms of Use Definitions

These terms of use descriptors and their definitions were taken from the Digital Library Federation's Electronic Resource Management Initiative and modified for our users. Please see each database's specific Terms of Use summaries for whether the following are permitted or prohibited.

Definitions:
Digitally Copy? To download and digitally copy a reasonable portion of the licensed materials; student or teacher.
Print Copy? To print a portion of the licensed materials; student or teacher.
ILL - Electronic (email)? To provide the licensed materials via interlibrary loan by way of electronic email attachments.
ILL: General? To provide the licensed materials via interlibrary loan by way of print copies or fax transmission.
Course Reserves? To make print copies of the licensed materials and place them in a controlled circulation area of the library, or electronic copies on a secure network (e.g. MySeneca), for reserve reading in conjunction with specific courses of instruction.
Course Packs - Electronic? To use licensed materials in collections or compilations of materials assembled in an electronic format by faculty members for use by students in a class for purposes of instruction, not for sale.
Course Packs - Print? To use licensed materials in collections or compilations of materials assembled in a print format by faculty members for use by students in a class for purposes of instruction, not for sale.
Public Performance Right? To use the licensed materials for public performance. This may include express language permitting or prohibiting use of materials in any kind of public performance, such as showing a video in a public setting like a classroom or at a campus event.
Persistent Links? To create stable authenticated links to the licensed material. If blank, it is not possible. See "Notes" for specific instructions.
