Toronto, October 9, 2007 --- Seneca College is recognizing the positive impact and economic benefits of partnerships between colleges and private sector businesses, community organizations and committed individuals.
The 3rd annual Seneca College Board of Governors’ Success in Partnership awards is an opportunity to thank those whose vision has led to partnerships with Seneca that benefit Canada’s economy and open doors to new and exciting ways to work together to achieve greater levels of excellence in diverse areas.
“These partnerships represent success stories well beyond Seneca College. They have created new educational opportunities, unique ways of addressing community needs, important research initiatives, and collaborations that ensure greater insight, and information in areas that impact the local, national and global community,” says Seneca College President Dr. Rick Miner.
On Thursday, October 11 at Seneca’s Markham Campus, from 6 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.,Seneca will host “Success in Partnership.” Partnerships to be recognized:
• Apotex Inc.
– Seneca’s partner with the faculties of Applied Science & Engineering Technology and Continuing Education and Training in such initiatives as co-operative education placements for students, on-site training for Apotex employees, advice on program development and donations of laboratory analytical equipment.
• Darlene Klemchuck
– Seneca’s partner as former Board of Governors Vice-Chair, current HR advisory committee member, and Chair, Markham Board of Trade in promoting initiatives and bringing other partners, such as Adecco to the College.
• WoodGreen Community Services
– Seneca’s partner in creating pathways for success for single mothers and their children.
• York Catholic District School Board
– Seneca’s partner with the Faculty of Workforce Skills Development, Youth Employment Programs York Region, and Centre for Precision Skills in supporting training and education initiatives and employment opportunities for youth.
