FAQs - Costs & Fees

How much does a MILE course cost?

There are two distinct costs for every MILE course. The course fee (tuition) is the portion that you pay to Seneca College, while the travel cost is the portion you pay to the travel agency and/or MILE faculty coordinator(s).

Course Fee (Tuition) Portion
If you take a MILE course as one of your required courses outlined in the curriculum for that semester, the course is part of your tuition fees. However, should you exceed the total number of courses outlined in the curriculum for that semester, an extra subject fee will apply. Please note, if you are an international student, international tuition fees would apply.

Example: You are in semester 3 of your program, which requires that you complete 5 courses. If you register for a MILE course in semester 3, and do not go beyond 5 courses total in semester 3, no extra fee is applied to your student account. However, if you take 5 courses, as well as a MILE course, an extra course tuition fee would apply.

Course Fee (Tuition) Portion - International Students
Course tuition fees apply to all MILE courses for International Students.

Travel Fee Portion
In addition to the course fee (tuition), all domestic and international students participating on a MILE course are required to pay a travel fee. Fees can range from $100 to $3500 depending on the MILE course you select. To check the estimated travel fee, please contact the faculty coordinator(s) of the MILE course you are interested in.

Is the travel fee portion included in my tuition?

No. Travel fees are separate from your course/tuition fees. Travel costs are paid to the travel agency or the MILE faculty coordinator(s) and cover costs such as flights, accommodation or other similar costs.

Do I need any additional travel documents before going on a MILE course? (ie: entry visa, transit visa, etc.)?

For MILE courses in Canada, no additional travel documents are necessary. Valid photo ID and travel insurance will be required. If you are embarking on a MILE course outside of Canada, you will be required to show a valid passport, and you may need additional travel documents depending on the location of the MILE course and/or your nationality.

As travel requirements for each course differ, more information will be given to students upon acceptance and at the mandatory orientation session.

Does my travel fee cover any additional travel documents?

No, it does not. Students are required to pay any fees associated with additional travel documents. Information about obtaining legal travel documents will be provided upon acceptance and at the mandatory orientation session.

Does my MILE travel fee cover accommodation and meals?

It depends on the MILE course you are participating in. To check the estimated travel fee, please contact the faculty coordinator(s) of the MILE course you are interested in.

Do I need to pay a deposit to participate on a MILE course?

Yes, a deposit is required to confirm your spot on a MILE course. For more information, please contact the faculty coordinator(s) of the MILE course you are interested in.

When is the remaining travel fee for my MILE course due?

Can I use my OSAP for a MILE course?
