OCAA Athletes of the Week
Two student-athletes were named Ontario College Athletics Association Athlete of the Week in their respective sports.
Second-year back Sarah Givens led the Seneca Sting to its first win of the season, a 24-5 decision over the Mohawk Mountaineers. Givens scored a game-high two tries for 10 points. She now leads her teammates with three tries in four matches. Givens has matched her total from last season, and can set a new personal best with a try in one of her final two matches.
Kurt Roy, Men’s Baseball (Fitness & Health Promotion)
First-year pitcher/infielder Kurt Roy was instrumental in Seneca's 9-8 win over Durham. Roy struck out six batters in 4 1/3 innings of work, keeping the score close. With the bat, Roy had two hits and a walk in four plate appearances, scoring twice and driving in a run. Seneca rallied with a four-run sixth inning, then held on for the win. Seneca (3-11) has won as many games this season as its previous two seasons combined.
