Program Description

Prepare for a dynamic career in public and private policing and investigations with this two-semester full-time program that was designed in consultation with the private policing and investigations industry. You'll gain the skills and knowledge required to be successful in this exciting career path. The focus and goal of every subject is a blend of academic knowledge and practical hands-on training and application.

Upon completion of the Firearms Safety subject, students are eligible to apply for their Canadian Firearms Licence.

This program focuses on the development of advanced skills needed for a challenging and rewarding career in private and public police, private investigations, security and other law enforcement and public safety organizations.

This Seneca program has been validated by the Credential Validation Service as an Ontario College Credential as required by the Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Development.

Admission Requirements

Program Eligibility

  • A recognized degree from an accredited institution in a relevant course of study (e.g. Criminology, Justice Studies, etc.); OR
  • A postsecondary diploma in Police Foundations, Law and Security Administration, or other relevant course of study (e.g. Paralegal, etc.) from a recognized postsecondary institution; OR
  • Mature applicants with 3 to 5 years of documented work experience in a related field may be considered. Relevant résumé and references must be provided.
  • English proficiency at the postsecondary level.

Note

  • Although not required for admission, good computer literacy skills are recommended for your success in the program.

Program Details

The Degree and Credit Transfer Office provides a number of services for students continuing their education at Seneca, and for graduating students considering degree transfer options.

Through transfer agreements and institution partnerships, graduates of this Seneca College program may be eligible for credit at various post-secondary institutions. Please refer to the Degree Transfer Guide for more information.

Transfer Credit may be granted for courses deemed equivalent to courses at Seneca that have been completed at recognized postsecondary institutions. Additional information is available online.
