Program Description

Academic and Pre-College

The Academic Upgrading Program is a tuition free program sponsored by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities that prepares students to meet college entry requirements. As a student in Academic Upgrading, you’ll also benefit from a program orientation prior to starting classes and additional career counselling and instruction in academic advisement, career counseling and computer skills training.

ACE Certificate

Once you've completed four advanced level subjects, including English & Communications and an Advanced Level math course, you'll be eligible for the Seneca College Academic and Career Entrance (ACE) certificate, which is accepted as equivalent to Grade 12, and is generally accepted by colleges across Ontario for admission to postsecondary college level programs. It is also accepted for entry into apprenticeship programs.

Special Funding

You may qualify for a Special Support Allowance to help you pay for transportation and child care costs. Please apply at each site.

Admission Requirements

Program Eligibility

  • Applicants must be at least 19 years of age or mature early school leavers. All applicants are tested and interviewed in order to determine program suitability and student entry-level.

Tuition is free.

Program Details

The Degree and Credit Transfer Office provides a number of services for students continuing their education at Seneca, and for graduating students considering degree transfer options.

Through transfer agreements and institution partnerships, graduates of this Seneca College program may be eligible for credit at various post-secondary institutions. Please refer to the Degree Transfer Guide for more information.

Transfer Credit may be granted for courses deemed equivalent to courses at Seneca that have been completed at recognized postsecondary institutions. Additional information is available online.

Please select the curriculum from the Academic Year in which you started (or will be starting) your studies. An Academic Year begins in September and ends in August of the following year.
