Certificate Course Requirements and Information

  • Your certification is valid for one year and you will be eligible to recertify annually
  • You must have a minimum of one year commercial diving experience with a background in underwater welding, as well as a Commercial Dive Medical Certificate.
  • You are required to submit a log book of your valid first-aid, CPR, Diver Certification Board of Canada (DCBC) card and medical at the time of registration
  • You must have your DCBC Unrestricted Surface Supplied Diver Card or equivalent
  • You must bring your own personal dive gear such as your suit, gloves, weights, harness and superlite 27/37 headliner. Seneca will provide you with a helmet, umbilical, regulator, bailout tank and backpack    
  • Your program costs will cover all steel used each day and welding electrodes needed for your sessions. You can choose to practice and test with Hydroweld FS or Broco Softouch.
  • If you have a current Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) Underwater Welding Ticket, you can upgrade to a higher ticker in overhead or multi pass
  • If you do not have a current ticket, you are eligible for the basic single-pass vertical down which qualifies you for flat

Underwater Welding Summer Course Schedule

UWS510: Underwater Welding One Week course for non-program students:

  • Section AA: May 8 to May 12
  • Section BB: May 23 to May 26
  • Section CC: June 5 to June 9
  • Section DD: June 19 to June 23

 UWS511: Underwater Welding Two Week course for non-program students:

  • Section AA: May 1 to May 12
  • Section BB: May 15 to May 26
  • Section CC: May 29 to June 9
  • Section DD: June 12 to June 23

 The test dates for each section of both courses are as follows:

  • Section AA: Friday, May 12
  • Section BB: Friday, May 26
  • Section CC: Friday, June 9
  • Section DD: Friday, June 23
