ETO Custom Training Solutions
The ETO has extensive experience developing custom training solutions for public and private sector clients in the building and environmental sciences sector. Our programs are customized to meet an organization’s specific training needs and are offered in a way that suits them best.
These programs may be new curricula developed for a specific niche or custom delivery of existing curricula to remote locations. Curriculum development and delivery are specific to each training project and usually include a combination of faculty and contracted subject matter experts.
The ETO has developed custom training programs in conjunction with key industry partners including the Ministry of the Environment, Natural Resources Canada and the Ontario Power Authority.
Some ETO custom training programs include:
DRY CLEANERS ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT TRAINING COURSE
For over 10 years and in support of Ontario Regulation 323/94, Seneca has been responsible for the creation and delivery of a training program for dry cleaners in the environmental management of contaminants and wastes. The Ministry requires that at least one employee in each dry cleaning establishment possess this Seneca certificate. Certified individuals must take a re-certification course every five years.
ENWAVE DEEP LAKE WATER COOLING (DLWC) TRAINING
In 2008, the ETO worked with Enwave to develop a training program that would provide instruction and education to the clients of Enwave in the operation and maintenance of deep lake water cooled buildings. The process began with a needs analysis including trainee surveys; custom curriculum development including the creation of a training presentation; and a custom manual. The training has been delivered in a workshop format at Enwave every year since inception.
TORONTO CATHOLIC DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD (TCDSB) – BES™ REFRESHER TRAINING
The three-day custom program provides BES 701 Heating and BES Operator Class II Refresher training to TCDSB custodians who have already earned their BES Operator Class II certificate and who want to apply for Head Caretaker positions within the board.
MCW CUSTOM ENERGY SOLUTIONS/ THE GOVERNMENT OF NUNAVUT
To support energy cost reduction targets, the Government of Nunavut, through MCW Custom Energy Solutions, contracted Seneca to deliver on-site Building Environmental Systems – BES™ training to building operators in the Arctic. Each subject is delivered on-site in Iqaluit in a condensed one-week timeframe. Building operators benefit from the education as well as from the interaction and hands-on, experiential learning in their own buildings.
ONTARIO POWER AUTHORITY – ENERGY MANAGEMENT TRAINING
To support their Conservation and Demand Management (CDM) targets, the Ontario Power Authority contracted with Seneca to provide initial market research for the training of junior energy managers. The ETO is currently in the curriculum development, registration and marketing phases. Training delivery to over 500 registrants in four locations – Toronto, Sudbury, Ottawa and London - is expected to commence in January 2014.
