John is a full-time professor and award-winning leader in the special event industry. Over his career he has worked on events ranging from international press conferences to private weddings to large fundraising galas. John is a Certified Wedding Planner with the Wedding Planning Institute of Canada. John is also a member of the International Special Event Society and has served on the board of the Toronto chapter. He has also served as a judge for previous Canadian Event Industry Awards and has judged International awards for the International Special Event Society.
John was instrumental in the development of the College’s graduate certificate in Event Management – Event and Exhibit Design, a program in which he now teaches and coordinates. He has worked with his students on a number of events and projects across the city including Bloor Street Entertains, the Design Exchange Gala, the World AIDS Conference, and the opening of the Royal Ontario Museum’s Crystal Addition.
John has a Fine Art Bachelors Degree, a Masters Degree in Education, as well as college certificates in Interior Decorating and Developing Curricula for the Internet. John has worked freelance as a photographer, curator, publicist, interior decorator, and colour consultant. John is also a practicing artist, exhibiting regularly in galleries in Toronto.
