Restricted Commercial Scuba

The Restricted Occupational SCUBA program (RCS 101) is a three-week optional course that allows the candidate to qualify for certification by the Diver Certification Board of Canada, in accordance with the Canadian Standards Association Standard for Diver Competency, Z275.4. This certification is particularly useful for the commercial diver who may seek work in the Seafood Harvesting, Aqua culture, Movie or Emergency Services area of the diving industry.

RCS 101 is available only to students who are registered in the Underwater Skills program. Successful completion of semester one of the UWS program and the RCS 101 program will provide the candidate with the required knowledge and skills to meet the requirements of the CSA standard and will qualify the student for certification.

The RCS 101 program is primarily a practical session that allows the candidate to accumulate an excess of 15 hours of bottom time at depths ranging from 10 - 100 feet of water. During this time, the student will accumulate skills that are commonly used in the SCUBA sector of the commercial diving field. Attention will be placed on the safe use of SCUBA diving techniques and equipment in the commercial diving industry.

This program is limited to a maximum of 20 students. Space is limited to allow for a high instructor to student ratio and to allow for the maximum usage of dive time.

The RCS 101 - Restricted Commercial SCUBA program is highly recommended for the Underwater Skills candidate who has minimum experience in the underwater environment.

Please note that the Restricted Commercial SCUBA certification requires that the candidate complete the deep diving component which will take place in May or June in Wiarton.
