Subject Title
Pre-Graduate Experience

Subject Description
This subject provides the learner with the opportunity to experience directed participation in the fire department environment. In addition, the learner performs appropriate firefighter tasks/duties, which contribute to the learner's educational program outcomes in the areas of fire suppression and rescue, emergency patient care, fire prevention, public education and training. The majority of the practicum takes place in fire department environments supplemented with appropriate community experiences. During this experience, each learner works under the direction of a "preceptor". 

Credit Status
One credit in the Pre-Service Firefighter Education and Training Ontario College Certificate 

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this subject the student will be able to:

1. Ensure achievement of the overall program learning outcomes.
2. Successfully demonstrate the final outcomes of the graded practicum experience.
3. Prepare for OFM theory testing by reviewing curriculum learning outcomes and performance skills.
4. Practice critical thinking assessment and evaluation skills utilized by the firefighter.
5. Participate as appropriate in scenario-based training simulations.

Modes of Evaluation
Participation in the practical consolidation of skills including but not limited to mock interviews, critique and feedback, and OFM exam preparation.

Grading Policy:

80% attendance and successful completion of assignments and tests are required by the Office of the Fire Marshal to receive a SAT grade for this subject.
