Finding Childcare for Dependents
Childcare is often a challenge for students with dependent children. And juggling parenting responsibilities with classwork is often a challenge. We encourage you to find childcare accommodations as early as possible. Most daycare facilities accept children as spaces become available, which may mean waiting lists. It typically takes longer to place infants than toddlers. Sometimes it takes up to six months to set up care in your facility of choice.
Inform Seneca College early if there is a risk of a scheduling problem between your classes and your childcare. We may be able to help resolve a potential scheduling conflict. Contact the Counselling Department at 416.491.5050 ext. 22900 as early as possible and at least one month prior to the start of classes if this is the case. They will be able to assist you. Counselling also offers parenting classes which are personal workshops/sessions for students who are having difficulty with scheduling for their children
