Financial Literacy for Grade 7 & 8 Students
This one-day interactive activity will provide Grade 7 & 8 students with a preview of life as a Seneca College business student. Professors from the College's Faculty of Business will facilitate an engaging workshop that focuses on the many college pathways and career opportunities for graduates of our business programs. Students will learn about programs and careers in accounting, finance, marketing and business management. Students will also participate in a Junior Achievement (JA) financial literacy workshop. The JA workshops are Dollars with Sense and Economics for Success. Seneca College is partnering with JA to offer the workshops. The workshop descriptions are below. Seneca students will share their experiences to emphasize the importance of financial literacy for success in college. Participating students will also have an opportunity to "ask a business student" questions about what it is like to be a college student and tour the campus.

By taking the course, I certainly gained many different experiences from high school. First, since the purpose of post-secondary education is to prepare students for professional occupations, the professor brought up updated information about accounting-related careers. Secondly, through participating in the course, my knowledge of accounting is enriched due to the valuable and real-world related questions that are asked by the students.
