First in Family - Student Spotlight
Each month we highlight a Seneca student who is the first in their family to attend a post-secondary institute such as a college, university or apprenticeship program. This month, meet Katelynn!
Hometown: Fenelon Falls, Ontario
Program/Semester: Social Service Worker, Sem. 3
I am the first person in my family to attend college. I chose the Social Service Worker program because I love to help people! When I graduate, I want to work with the Native community.
In my spare time, I like to go shopping and hang out with friends!
I think the most challenging thing about college is learning to live on a small budget.
One college service I would recommend to other students is First Peoples @ Seneca. They offer wonderful support and guidance for Aboriginal students as well as the opportunity to learn about First Nations culture through traditional teachings and ceremonies.
