Accessiblity Services

Accessibility Services provides services and academic accommodations to students who have a documented learning, physical, sensory, mental health disability or medical condition. Our services assist and support students in ensuring they have the proper academic accommodations to achieve their academic success.

Who are these services for?

Accessibility Services works with current and potential students who have a diagnosed disability. Students may have one or more of the following disabilities:

  • specific learning disabilities
  • deaf or hard of hearing
  • mobility impairment
  • blind or low vision
  • mental illness or psychological disability
  • attention deficit disorder (ADD) or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
  • brain or head injury
  • medical conditions
  • other disabilities diagnosed by a regulated health care professional

When should a student contact the Accessibility Services Office?

Students are encouraged to contact the Accessibility Services Office upon reciept of their admissions offer.  For some programs there are pre-admission orientation sessions that require some accommodations. Any student who may require a psycho-educational assessment, alternative format texts, sign language interpreter services or attendant services should contact the Accessibility Services Office.

  • Vocational assessments
  • Workshops on study skills
  • Seneca Summer Transition Program - offered in early summer for students with learning disabilities

How do I access Accessibility Services?

Accessibility Services are available in each of the Student Health and Accessibility Services Offices at each of our four main campuses.

Confidentiality and Disclosure

Confidentiality of information is the foundation of an effective service for students with disabilities. Student Health and Accessibility Services believes that this practice generates a student’s trust and confidence; it is also our legal responsibility.

Information provided to Accessibility Services is protected in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code and the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. Personal information provided to us cannot be used or disclosed to others without the student’s written consent.

Confidentiality also extends to student transcripts. Any student who has utilized the service will not be identified on their transcript as using the service or receiving accommodations.
