|Subject Title:||Teaching English as a Second Language 2 (TESL 2)|
|Prerequisite:||Successful completion of TESL 1 (ELI 317)|
ELI 321 is the second and final module of the TESL Training program offered by the English Language Institute. Participants receive a minimum of 150 hours of intensive classroom instruction and 10 hours of supervised practice teaching. The training, which builds on the practical knowledge and skills acquired in ELI 317, explores more thoroughly such important topics as second language acquisition models, developing learner’s communicative competence, student-centered teaching techniques, testing and alternative assessment, learning strategies, advanced language skill development, and technology enhanced language learning.
Successful completion of the course entitles students to a Certificate of Standing in Teaching English as a Second/Foreign Language 2 and eligibility to apply for TESL Canada Standard 2 certification and TESL Ontario certification.
